Capacity Building Program: Social Investment Planning

Research project developed for BHP, consisting of a proof of concept of tailings transformation integrating the Recomine (HIF) and STT (SMI-ICE-Chile) projects, which includes a first stage of desulfurization of the tailings and production of schwerttmanite (Recomine ), and a second stage of water recovery (LIT) and agglomeration/sintering, or fusion of a fraction, at high temperature using solar energy. The project brings together a consortium of research institutes and companies from different countries, led by SMI-ICE-Chile: Recomine – HIF (Germany), LIT (Australia), Fraunhofer Chile (Germany-Chile), and SMI-UQ (Australia). .
