Address the challenges of particulate matter management in the mining industry through integrated and collaborative solutions involving different research lines.
Â
Aims
– Form and establish a multidisciplinary research team and network in Chile, as a point of reference
in the subject of particulate matter in mining, with the capacity to study and propose solutions
based on scientific knowledge to the different aspects related to the problem of particulate
matter originating from mining activities.
– Support the industry in managing particulate matter appropriately and in line with international
standards, identifying areas for improvement and proposing scientific-technical solutions.
– Generate scientific knowledge to support decision-making in the management of particulate
matter in industry and public government entities. This with the ultimate goal of generating
technologies and knowledge to mitigate the problems and harmful effects of particulate matter
on ecosystems and the health of workers and communities that inhabit the vicinity of mining
operations, ultimately resulting in an improvement in their quality of life.
– Contribute to the training of Chilean scientists who are experts in the management and impacts of
