Biography: José is a Civil Mining Engineer from the Universidad de Chile, specializing in mineral processing, energy efficiency and optimization through process modeling and simulation. He has experience in the processing and analysis of data from laboratory tests and metallurgical processes at SGS Minerals Chile, where he did his practice and thesis. He currently works at SMI-ICE-Chile in the Processing: Energy, Water and Emissions research line, focused on the efficient supply and consumption of water and energy resources in mining operations. Specifically, his work focuses on studying the impacts of water quality variations on the recovery of metals by flotation and on identifying alternative solutions to increase the resource’s recirculation capacity and reduce the industry’s water footprint.
