Biography: Jacques is a Geological Civil Engineer from the Université de Liège, Belgium, with a PhD – Doctorate in Sciences Appliquées from the same University. He has more than twenty-five years of experience in the mining industry as a Research Engineer, academic and consultant, committed to sustainability. His main areas of expertise are Biohydrometallurgy / Bioleaching, Environmental Impact Assessment Studies for Mining Projects, Mine Closure Planning, Water Management, Geochemical Characterization of Mine Waste, and Chemical Stability of Tailings Deposits.

His areas of interest are the sustainable management of mining waste, water management, the circular economy in the mining industry and the sustainability indicators of the mining industry.

He currently works as a Senior Researcher in the research line Environmental Rehabilitation and Ecosystem Dynamics at SMI-ICE-Chile.
