Biography: Felipe is a biologist graduated from the University of Concepción, he has a master’s degree in environmental management and a doctorate in environmental engineering, geology and geochemistry from the University of Queensland, Australia. Currently, he leads the Environmental Rehabilitation and Ecosystem Dynamics team and holds the position of manager of research and development projects at SMI-ICE-Chile. Felipe has more than 10 years of experience leading the execution of applied research projects and consulting specialized in mining sustainability. His specialization covers critical areas such as mine reclamation and closure, water and tailings management, mine waste characterization, acid mine drainage, strategic planning for sustainability, circular economy in mining, as well as the evaluation and remediation of contaminated sites, among other fields. His professional career has focused on the development and management of projects for the mining industry, offering strategic recommendations to improve environmental performance and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
